Shabana Azmi did NOT want Jyotika in Dabba Cartel

Shibani Dandekar opens up on Shabana’s part in Dabba Cartel. She said, “As Shabana said she really didn’t have a choice. She was already a part of the cast before the story was even developed. I knew that she was going to be Sheela, and then we took the story to her. And,I don’t think we narrated it to her. I think we gave her a two-liner and she said yes. In terms of the other cast members, I think it was a huge team effort between Excel and Netflix to find this perfect blend of the cast we have today.

She added, “Anjali was a very last-minute but a very incredible addition to the team. I am sure and, she has fit the character Shaheeda perfectly. But I have to say I just can’t imagine these characters played by anyone else, it’s one thing to put them on paper. But to bring them to life the cast has, you can’t unsee how.”

Shabana Azmi confessed she did not want Jyotika in the series. “I have tried to remove two girls from this. One is Jyothika, she doesn’t know this. I said ‘nahi nahi Jyothika ko nahi’ isko lo, usko lo, and its really creditable to these guys who said, ‘You can do whatever you want, I am not going to change her.’ And I am really grateful that you played it. Truly, it was my mistake and it has robbed me, it has robbed me the pleasure of working with you. Thank you very much. “

After this conversation, Jyotika touched the feet of Shabana.
